When will National Velvet Day be celebrated? August 7th of each calendar year.

What is National Velvet Day? National Velvet Day is meant to celebrate velvet fabric! The opulent fabric inspired Velvet Taco’s restaurant name and their signature dessert, Red Velvet Cake. The fabric of velvet symbolizes luxury. They took the luxurious fabric “velvet” and combined it with “taco” to create their name, to showcase that Velvet Taco offers an elevated take on the taco. In short, tacos like you’ve never had before!

How should National Velvet Day be celebrated or observed? Sport your best velvet articles of clothing! Velvet headbands, velvet shoes, velvet sport coats, you name it. At Velvet Taco, we have special surprises for dine-in guests wearing velvet on National Velvet Day!

Why was National Velvet Day created? This day is being created to celebrate the fabric of velvet as well as the taco spot, Velvet Taco! Velvet Taco was founded on August 7th, 2011 in Dallas, TX. Velvet Taco’s restaurant name was inspired by the fabric of velvet, and velvet fabric does not yet have it’s own National Day. They saw an opportunity to dedicate a day to the fabric as well as their founding day. This is why we want to highlight velvet nationwide!

Who created this day? This day was created by Velvet Taco in 2024.
