When will National No Secret Day be celebrated? May 1st of each calendar year.
What is National No Secret Day? National No Secret Day is a holiday to honor ALL individuals to come out of isolation, speak freely about their mental health journey, and support those on their mental health journey. In connecting with and supporting others, National No Secret Day will bring individuals, families, and communities together to fight the stigma attached to mental illness. As many underresourced, Black, and Brown communities are impacted by the stigma attached to mental illness, this day will honor those brave souls who share their secrets in safety, solidarity, and promotion of mental health. We are stronger together, sharing and caring.
How should National No Secret Day be celebrated or observed? This day should be celebrated by calling, texting, or visiting a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbor. One can also smile or engage in a brief conversation with a stranger. One may post on social media with an encouraging message, host a community connection group or event (virtual or in-person) or send a card or letter to someone via postal mail.
Why was National No Secret Day created? No Secret is worth one losing their life, so this day will support those who may suffer in isolation, are on their mental health journey and have a desire to remove the stigma attached to mental illness. This day is being created to bring awareness to mental illness, honor ALL individuals who support mental health as a lifestyle and believe in supporting others. Together individuals, families, and communities are healthier by supporting one another on the mental health journey.
Who created this day? This day was created by D.U.O. EmpowerMEnt Services in 2022.
