When will this Day be celebrated? June 14th of each calendar year.
What is National YWCA Greater Los Angeles Unsung Sheroes Day?
On June 14th, the YWCA plans to hold its inaugural Phenomenal Woman Award Celebration celebrating over 3500 First Responders and Essential Worker SHEROES. We’d love to coin this day as the National Unsung Sheroes Day whereby we can encourage Americans across the country to honor their personal SHEROES or women who’ve dedicated their lives to causes who have rarely been celebrated or honored. We’d like to make June 14th their day.
Why is this day being created?
We’d like to create a moment for ALL Americans to take a moment and honor an unsung SHERO in their lives. From first responders who saved our lives throughout the pandemics to the hard working mother who may not be SEEN, we’d like to create a dedicated day to encourage everyone across the country to use their social media platforms and honor the women in their lives who need to be uplifted, seen, and celebrated.
How should this day be observed?
This day would be celebrated through an orchestrated social media campaign, backed by celebrity voices (many of whom have already confirmed they will participate) utilizing #NationalUnsungSheroesDay in conjunction with the YWCA’s Phenomenal Woman Award Celebration at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. https://www.instagram.com/ywcagla/
Who created this day? This day was created by the YWCA in 2022.
