When will this Day be celebrated?  This day will be held April 23rd of each calendar year.

What is National Take A Hike With Nick Day?  National Take A Hike With Nick Day is to bring awareness to mental health, fentanyl poisoning, ending stigma and shame, through the healing of being in nature and hiking. Suicide, fentanyl poisoning, and drug addiction is at an all time high. It is more common for kids to feel alone than to feel connected to themselves, their families and friends, community, or environment. This is a national emergency. Healing starts with us.

Why is this Day being created?  In April 23, 2021 my 24 year old son Nick was killed by fentanyl poisoning after taking a 1/2 a pill he believed to be a prescription pain pill. Nick had suffered with his mental health often feeling alone in his battle. Nick loved hiking and found it to be his peaceful, solace in life. Connecting with yourself, family and friends, and community in nature is a healing process that we as a nation desperately need. Unconditional love and connection with our environment is a great place to start. In honor of Nick and his deep love and passion for hiking and connecting and encouraging others to connect to the healing practice of hiking and being in nature.

How should this Day be observed?  This day is celebrated or observed by posting pictures of yourself and/or a group of people out in nature and going for a hike.
