Who created this day? Daisy Jackson started this journey 3 yrs ago with a UTI (urinary track infection) that went sepsis and landed her in ICU. Prior to that she was a vibrant, jazzy o’lady, living her independent life. For 3 years she was riddled with this reoccurring infection. They often go undetected and can be deadly to the elderly. They become confused, agitated, incontinent, off balance and it can be mistaken for early signs of dementia. It’s not! It attacks organs if left untreated. A simple urinalysis can prevent it! Daisy Jackson lost this battle last Thursday 10.24.19. I am angry and heart broken. I want to make it a day to bring awareness and hope it can help save a life.
How should this day be observed? Educate yourself on the warning signs of UTIs in the elderly, and advocate for those in your life who may be at risk.
