When will this Day be celebrated?  March 1st of each calendar year.

What is National School Horse Day?  National School Horse Day has been founded by Grand Prix Equine to honor horses within riding programs whose purpose is to develop and perfect a rider’s skill set. These special animals have the largest, kindest hearts and take excellent care of their riders (even those with little to no experience) under the expertise of a trainer. These hard-working animals give their all day in and day out, and many of these horses have minimal days off- if any at all. Yet time and time again, they are tacked, led to the ring, and always do their best for each and every rider.

Why is this day being created?   National School Horse Day has been created to celebrate and honor school horses within equestrian programs worldwide. Both children and adults who love and ride horses remember the horse or pony who made them fall in love with this challenging and rewarding sport. The school horses teach riders much more than just basics in the saddle. Riders learn the true meaning of responsibility, partnership, commitment, determination, grit, and perseverance with assistance from their four-legged friend. On this day we wish for all horses in equestrian riding programs to be recognized and celebrated!

How should this day be observed?  Riders and equestrian programs can share their favorite pictures and fondest memories of their school horses on social media with the #NationalSchoolHorseDay to share with the world!
