What is National R&B Music Day?

Each year, on the first Saturday of March, National Rhythm & Blues Music Day (R&B Music Day) will be celebrated around the country to bring people of all ethnicities and cultures together to help celebrate this special day of music and Artists. Performances, activities, and other special events will be scheduled, sponsored by music enthusiasts, historians, Artists, theaters, and organizations with strong support from the media and industry professionals.

Why is this day being celebrated or observed?

National R&B Music Day is being created to celebrate, promote, and preserve the rich legacy of this genre of music (and its Artists) as a form of musical expression and to raise awareness in order to keep R&B Music in the forefront. This day will bring together musicians, Artists, historians, and R&B Music enthusiasts from all over the nation. It will be a day for the young and the old to enjoy and appreciate R&B Music

How should this day be celebrated or observed?

National R&B Music Day will be celebrated with a nationwide range of special activities for music fans, including musical performances, seminars, dance recitals, film, and documentary screenings…all centered around R&B Music and Artists. People will be invited to celebrate this special day in their own way, by organizing their own event in homage to the impact that R&B Music has made through the years. Organizations can also have their own R&B Music fundraisers, create other types of charitable events, or individuals can simply celebrate this day by listening to a few of their favorite R&B songs with family or friends. It’s a way for music fans to honor and celebrate the authentic foundation and legacy of this influential genre of music.
