When will National Motorcycle Awareness Day be celebrated? November 12th of each calendar year.
What is National Motorcycle Awareness Day? National Motorcycle Awareness Day is a day to educate drivers everywhere on the importance of being vigilant drivers and watching out for motorcyclists while on the road. More than half of ALL motorcycle accidents are caused by the negligence of other drivers. Data shows that careless driving, inattention, texting while driving, and not checking twice have been linked to automobile drivers causing wrecks/DEATH/dismemberment/paralysis to motorcyclists in this country. Education should also be given to teenage motorcycle riders on these statistics and the risks involved in riding. Proper protective equipment and the importance of always wearing a helmet should be emphasized and encouraged.
How should National Motorcycle Awareness Day be celebrated or observed?
-
Be a vigilant driver. Look twice for motorcyclists. Yield at yellow lights while watching for motorcyclists. Do not text and drive. Be aware when behind the wheel of a vehicle.
-
In the future- a charity involving motorcycle group rides, a 5k run, and any donations will go toward medical bills for injured teens involved in similar accidents for those who survive, or for funeral costs for those who do not, as well as grief counseling for surviving family members.
-
Education to teens on the risks involved with riding a motorcycle, as well as protective equipment and importance of motorcycle safety courses prior to riding.
-
Please honor Jaden’s life with #4Jaden to spread awareness of this day, educating drivers on the importance of checking twice and being vigilant drivers and riders.
Why was National Motorcycle Awareness Day created? Jaden Damien Rosario was killed while riding his motorcycle on Saturday November 12th, 2022 due to a drivers reluctance to yield at a yellow light. Jaden was only nineteen years old. The loss of this precious soul has left everyone who knew him in a ripple effect of devastation. Our families suffer from his absence daily. This day was created in honor of Jaden Damien Rosario to memorialize his life and spread awareness with the hope of helping to save the lives of other teen motorcyclists and thereby preventing an avoidable tragedy.
Who created this day? This day was created by Brittainy Stalvey in 2023.
