When will this Day be celebrated?  December 23rd of each calendar year.

What is National Falon Marie Morris “Be Kind” Day?

This day will be to sprinkle acts of kindness throughout the world in honor of my sweet and kind daughter who lost her physical life at the age of 24, a week before her birthday and Christmas. She was a recent college graduate just starting out her young adult life. She was the kindest and sweetest person I had ever known and everyone that met her appreciated her kindness and light. After she passed I notice she had posted, “kindness is free, Sprinkle that stuff everywhere” so in her honor and in the betterment of all human kind I thought why not establish a national day encouraging each one of us to share an act of kindness. If all of us lived our lives this way what a better world it would be.

Why is this day being created?

To honor the memory of my beloved daughter, Falon Marie Morris, and to encourage acts of kindness among all. So that we may all live in a kinder more gentle world with peace. I have created a foundation in my daughter’s honor and with it I hope to encourage acts of kindness in our community. I would like to be able to reach out beyond our own little community and have her birthday become a national “be kind” day. I believe at the root most people are kind and they want to help others, sometimes we just need a little nudge or some ideas. I am hoping by establishing a national “be kind” day it will help create a movement of a kinder and brighter world. We could ask people what are you going to do today to make the world a kinder place so it actually sets an action into motion, from there the goal of the day is to have it the ripple effect and to carry out throughout the world and the year!

How should this day be observed?

Each community can set up acts of kindness and encourage others to pay if forward and allow the ripple affect to take place. It could be as small as having a coffee shop offer a free cup of coffee and ask only that they pay it forward. In the schools ask children to write down what act of kindness they will do in the new year. The list can go on and on!

Who created this day?  This day was created by Shannon Morris in 2022.
