Dave Glover Show

When is National DGS Day? This day will take place on October 16 of each calendar year.

What is this day? Nation DGS Day is a day to celebrate one of the most listened to and longest running radio shows in middle America, The Dave Glover Show (DGS). The DGS mixes lighthearted comedy, interpersonal discussions, and politics in such a way as to reflect day to day conversation. When paired with the charismatic everyman host, Dave Glover, and his intelligent, affable cast, the show feels much like sitting down with old friends and having a good-natured conversation over some beverages.

Why is this day being created? In today’s times of flaring tempers and uncertain futures, it’s important for everyone to remember what it’s like to get together with other humans and simply talk. Whether it’s politics or laughing until we cannot breathe, now more than ever we need to focus on the fraternity all people share.

Radio is one of the oldest forms of mass communication still enjoyed today. The DGS alone reaches hundreds of thousands of people four hours a day, five days a week. In addition to their weekly listeners, the DGS has been on the air for twenty years. This results in a nearly incalculable contribution to the communities which it serves by encouraging civil and rational discourse on serious issues, and light-hearted humor in all other matters.

I myself as the applicant have enjoyed the show every day 5 days a week for just over a decade. Therefore I decided to apply for National DGS Day to thank them for serving our communities.

How should this day be celebrated? National DGS day should be celebrated by, when possible, gathering with old friends and enjoying pleasant conversation. It should also be observed through acts of rationality and moderation, such as hearing out a viewpoint opposed to yours. But above all National DGS day should be celebrated through being able to laugh, and not take yourself too seriously.

Who created this day? This day was created in October 2020 by Diego Rodriguez.
