When is International Human Animal Bond Day? This day will take place on November 8 of each calendar year.
What is International Human Animal Bond Day? We are creating a day to celebrate the special bond between people and animals of all kinds. It will be a day for people to celebrate their special bond and connection to creatures, as this is not documented in research as a bond with only pets, but all creatures (horses, cows, reptiles, bats, insects, etc.).
Why is this day being celebrated or observed? The Human Animal Bond Association has been around for over 25 years and over these years research has proven how important and powerful this bond is and can be. There has been increasing awareness since the pandemic and we want to bring further awareness while celebrating. We have been working with organizations in the UK and worldwide, thus calling it International Human Animal Bond Day.
How should this day be celebrated or observed? We are creating an area on our website, along with on social media platforms and more, with ideas on how to celebrate. Bringing awareness campaign ideas for veterinary practices, the veterinary and pet industries, rescue and shelter organizations, and more to celebrate together while building the awareness forward of how very important and influential the human animal bond can and has been for many people and animals of all ages and diversity.
Who created this day? This day was created in September 2021 by the Human Animal Bond Association and the Society for Companion Animal Studies (SCAS).
