When is International Coco Mom Day? This day will take place on May 22 of each calendar year.
What is International Coco Mom Day? This day is being created to celebrate Black and Brown moms. We want to show them that their lives matter and that they are very important parts to not just our community, but also the world. We want moms to know that their health concerns and treatment will be addressed and we will see improvement in how we celebrate and support them.
Why is this day being celebrated or observed? This date is special because it is the month of Mother’s Day and in 2019 we began the idea of Coco Bump. Our goal is to reduce the race-related disparities among Black and Brown families as it relates to maternal and infant morbidity & mortality. This date is significant to our organization because it is also the date of one of our Coco Grandmothers.
How should this day be celebrated or observed? This day should be observed based on each individual mom and family’s preference, with food, small gatherings, photos, on social media, and with loved moms of different stages.
